Goal: TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

 

 31 Years Later:

Department of Energy Budget: $24.2 Billion (FY2008)

Staffing: 16,000 Federal Employees

Labor: 100,000 Contract Employees

Progress toward Goal:

          - Zero new refineries.

          - Zero new homeland drilling projects.

          - Almost zero new offshore drilling (net increase of 40 active wells).

          - Stalled Alaska natural gas pipeline (initiated under Carter).

          - Zero construction of nuclear power plants.

          - $700 Billion annual wealth transfer to Saudi Arabia

                           Venezuela, and other oil exporters.

          -   Crushing oil and gas prices in the USA.

The Obvious Conclusion: This governmental agency has set a new standard for effectiveness which is hard to match. Your Bureau of Motor Vehicles pales in comparison.

Should similar agencies regulate BANKS and HEALTHCARE?
